They may have model looks and fabulous figures, but the entrants for this beauty contest are all about promoting inner attractiveness too.

Animal rights charity PETA has announced the finalists for its annual UK and Ireland Hottest Vegan contest, which aims to prove that there’s ‘nothing more attractive than compassion’.

One male and one female winner from the 16 finalists will be announced on 13th August, and among their numbers is an actor who starred in the Disney Channel mystery adventure series Evermoor.

Other hopefuls include a pilot who is trying to make his airline more vegan-friendly;  a professional drummer and a dietitian from a family of butchers who is on a mission to turn her father vegan.

PETA Director Elisa Allen said: ‘There’s nothing sexier than someone who is committed to helping animals and the environment, and it doesn’t hurt that vegans are, on average, healthier and more energetic than their meat-eating peers.

‘Each one of the finalists in PETA’s contest is a living example of the strength and vitality that can come from vegan eating.’

The winners of a cruise for two with Vegan Travel will be chosen based on several factors, including a public vote – so which contestant is your favourite?

George Sear

The actor, 20, from Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, has appeared in The Bill and the Disney channel series Evermore.

He’s always felt a deep connection with animals and has attended protests against Canada Goose and participated in Cube of Truth vegan outreach to speak to people on the street about vegan living.

Alongside his acting career, he uses every opportunity he gets to promote positive action that people can take to protect the environment.

Vincent Azzopardi

The 30-year-old from Burton-on-Trent changed his views on meat-eating while living in Dubai, where he rescued over 20 abused animals.

He felt a connection to them and realised he couldn’t eat animals any more.

He is now the proud guardian of three happy rescued pups and continues to help save dogs and other animals from abusive situations.
